ЛЕКСИЧНІ ТА ГРАМАТИЧНІ ТРАНСФОРМАЦІЇ ПРИ ПЕРЕКЛАДІ АНГЛІЙСЬКИХ УГОД, ЩО РЕГУЛЮЮТЬ ПЕРЕВЕЗЕННЯ НЕБЕЗПЕЧНИХ ВАНТАЖІВ

Abstract

The Master’s thesis is devoted to the study of the specifics of translating international normative legal acts in the field of logistics and to the analysis of lexical and grammatical transformations used to render English-language agreements on the transportation of dangerous goods into Ukrainian. Relevance of the research topic. The rapid globalization of the world economy has led to the intensification of international transport flows and increased requirements for logistics safety. English serves as the main instrument for the codification of global safety standards developed under the auspices of the UN. However, the implementation of these norms into the national legislative system of Ukraine requires the creation of high-quality translations that ensure absolute identity of legal content and technical accuracy of instructions. Errors in such texts can lead to legal conflicts, economic losses, or catastrophic environmental consequences. The relevance is further emphasized by the specific linguistic nature of these documents, which demonstrate a stylistic syncretism of diplomatic protocol and technical discourse, requiring translators to overcome the typological asymmetry between the analytical English and synthetic Ukrainian languages. The purpose of the study is to identify and systematize lexical and grammatical transformations employed in the translation of English-language international agreements on the carriage of dangerous goods into Ukrainian to achieve equivalence and adequacy.
